Health insurance fair to be held Oct. 14

OSAGE CITY—Health insurance can bring many questions and concerns. Those who need help with such may attend the Health Insurance Fair hosted by ECKAN.

The Health Insurance Fair will be held 5-6:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Osage County Senior Center, 604 Market St. Osage City.

“We always tend to get all the questions,” said Kenna Burns, event organizer. “Clients ask us about health insurance options, whether it’s the elderly or disabled on Medicare or those who don’t understand prescriptions. They hear a lot about the marketplace or getting penalized and never seem to get a straight answer.”

These issues prompted Burns to reach out to representatives with such organizations and invite them to attend a local event.

Agencies providing information include United Healthcare, Amerigroup Real Solution, Sunflower Health Plan and KanCare. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Cover Kansas and Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas will provide application assistance.

“It will be a one stop shop for health insurance that seems to be confusing,” said Burns. “It’s for anybody, everybody and all income levels.”

Burns said the event couldn’t happen at a more optimum time, as enrollment for the marketplace begins again Nov. 15 and Oct. 15 for Medicare.
