Scranton celebrates Saturday in the Park this weekend

Scranton will be hosting its annual Saturday in the Park this Friday and Saturday. Festivities begin 4 p.m. Friday when vendors will begin their setup. The annual classic car cruise-in will run from 5-9 p.m. and prizes will be awarded.

A barbecue meal will be served 6 p.m. at Scranton City Community Building. Conclude a fun evening by attending the sand volleyball tournament at 7 p.m.

The fun continues beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday with breakfast served at United Methodist Church. The parade will begin lining up at Scranton Attendance Center.

The Scranton Lions Club parade begins at 10 a.m. and will run through downtown. Following the parade, the Lions sight bus will be at the city park for everyone to visit. The Lions Club will serve food all day in the community building starting at 7 a.m. with breakfast.

Rides will be available 11 a.m.-3 p.m. with wristbands. There will be a charge for the bands. Do not miss the barbecue at Scranton City Community Building, bike rodeo and turtle races.
Get in on the water balloon toss at 11:30 a.m. At noon the basketball shooting contest begins.

At 4 p.m. the double elimination horseshoe tournament begins. A fee will be charged and participants will draw for their partner. Individuals 16 years-old and older are eligible to enter. Prizes will be awarded.

The day will conclude with the 10 p.m. fireworks sponsored by Scranton Fire and Rescue.
