SFT volleyball ranked No. 1 following 4A split

TOPEKA—The Kansas Volleyball Association released their fourth-week rankings Oct. 2. The rankings reflect school reclassifications released Sept. 27 for 2013 enrollments, and for the first time acknowledge the Class 4A split approved by Kansas State High School Activities Association members last summer.

With the split, the Santa Fe Trail (16-2) volleyball team jumped from the sixth ranked team in Class 4A to the top-ranked team in Class 4A Division II.

Other ranked area teams include Burlington (21-1) ranked third in 4A Div. 11, and Waverly (18-6) and Lebo (15-7), which are ranked fifth and sixth in 1A Div. 1.

With the reclassification, Marais des Cygnes Valley dropped back down to Class 1A. With 99 students enrolled, MdCV is the largest school in Class 1A third year.

Santa Fe Trail enrollment is reported at 329, Osage City (3A) at 190, Lyndon (2A) at 133 and Burlingame (2A) at 113, with each school remaining in their previous classes.
