State approves dust control on ‘detour’

LYNDON—The Osage County Commission is taking continued steps toward mitigating issues created by an unofficial detour around a bridge replacement project on State Highway 268.

“We’re trying out there,” said commission Ken Kuykendall.

Quenemo Friday the 13th

Mark your calendars for Sept. 13 for the annual Friday the 13th event in Quenemo. Starting at 11 a.m. at Quenemo Community Building, dinner will be served for a small fee. Attendees can also buy or order T-shirts, hoodies and koozies.

Carbondale to host fall celebration

Carbondale Lions will sponsor a lawnmower demolition derby 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at Carbondale City Park to kick off the Sept. 13-14 fall celebration. Demolition drivers are proposing a Dukes of Hazards theme as part of the entertainment.

Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and an admission will be charged for all ages. There will be concession foods available.

The Carbondale City Library will host a book sale 5-8 p.m. Sept. 13 at city hall. Vendors will begin set up on Main Street with a variety of foods and items for sale.
