Dean L. Beckman

OVERBROOK—Dean L. “Jock” Beckman died Aug. 10, 2014, at his home in Overbrook. He was 68.

He was born Sept. 6, 1945, in Odell, Neb., the son of Roy and Irma Holle Beckman. He grew up in Marysville, and joined the U.S. Navy when he was only 17. He proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk until being honorably discharged in 1966.

He married Wanda Ford June 2, 1967. She survives of the home. Together they raised three children.

He worked as a telephone equipment installer for Lucent Technology and retired after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Communication Workers of America.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brother, John and Rodney Beckman.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years; a daughter, Kristi Morgan and husband, Andy, Basehor; two sons, Mike Beckman and wife, Brenda, Carbondale, and Todd Beckman and wife, Heather, Topeka; four sisters, Carol Koch, Seneca, Joyce Eyth, Beatrice, Neb., Janice Schaffer, Beatrice, Neb., and Jolene White, Florida; a brother, Wally Ehrhardt, Topeka; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Aug. 13 at Grace Community Church, Overbrook. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the church. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Osage City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Community Church or Cotton O’Neil Cancer Center and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
