Homer V. Melgren

OSAGE CITY—Homer V. Homer Melgren went to be with his Lord and Savior Oct. 20, 2014. He was 90.

He was born Sept. 26, 1924, in his childhood home near Osage City. He graduated from Emporia State University with degrees in history and philosophy. He graduated from North Park Seminary in 1956, and served as a pastor in Covenant churches in several states including Ohio, Washington, Illinois, and Kansas. In 1961, he served the Covenant Church in Taiwan as a Missionary until 1973. He retired to his childhood farm and later in life obtained his real estate license.

He married Betty Norman Aug. 15, 1953, at Chicago. She survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by five children, Rick Melgren and wife, Suzanne, Friendswood, Texas, Dan Melgren and wife, Kaye, Pittsburg, Calif., Steve Melgren and wife, Linda, Osage City, Nancy Reusser and husband, Layne, Wichita, and Jim Melgren and wife, Glenda, Olathe; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Willis and Nadine Melgren, Springfield, Mo.

Family graveside service will be Oct. 22 at Rapp Cemetery. Visitation, with the family, will be 7-9 p.m. Oct. 22 at Osage Community Covenant Church, Osage City. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Oct. 23 at Osage City Community Covenant Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant World Missions and Community Covenant Church.
