Larry E. Masters

BURLINGAME—Larry E. Masters, Burlingame, died Oct. 6, 2014, at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was 71.

He was born Feb. 22, 1943, at Burlingame, the son of Marshall and Georgia Patterson Masters. He grew up in Burlingame, and graduated from Burlingame High School in 1961.

He was a farmer all his life. He also worked in the internal mail system for the State of Kansas, where he retired after 11 years of service.

He married Janice Rose, Feb. 6, 1964, in North Carolina. She survives at the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Barbara Book.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jennie Vaught and husband, Mike, Meriden, and Debbie Breeden and husband Blake, Overland Park; a brother, Jim Masters and wife, Janice, Council Grove; two grandsons, Steven Vaught and Branson Vaught; and three granddaughters, Ashley Vaught, Alexis Breeden and Abby Breeden.

A graveside funeral service will be 10 a.m. Oct. 11, 2014, at Wilmington Cemetery, south of Harveyville. He will lie in state after 4 p.m. Friday, at Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, where the family will meet with relatives and friends from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed.
