Roger D. Love Sr.

Aug. 11, 1933 – June 24, 2019

TOPEKA — Roger D. Love Sr., Burlingame, died Monday, June 24, 2019, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was 85.

He was born Aug. 11, 1933, at Burlingame on the family farm, the son of David and Reva Rogers Love. He graduated from Burlingame High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1962.

Mary Lou Jones Stromgren

April 6, 1946 – June 24, 2019

TOPEKA — Mary Lou Jones Stromgren, Osage City, died Monday, June 24, 2019, at Stormont Vail Health, Topeka. She was 73.

She was born April 6, 1946, at Emporia, the daughter of Glenn Wayne and Bernice Standiferd Jones. She graduated from Lebo High School in 1964.

She married Derald Wayne Stromgren, Sept. 18, 1966, Lebo. He survives. To this union, two sons were born, Brian and Kevin. For 40 years,

Died – June 24, 2019

TOPEKA — Roger D. Love Sr., Burlingame, died Monday, June 24, 2019, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. He was 85.

A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29 at Burlingame Federated Church, Burlingame. Burial will follow at Burlingame Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Carey Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends and relatives from 5 to 7 p.m.

Ila Smoot

Aug. 8, 1948 – June 23, 2019

LYNDON — Ila Smoot died Sunday, June 23, 2019, at her home in Lyndon. She was 70.

She was born Aug. 8, 1948, at Topeka, the daughter of Clayton Ray and Beulah Basel. She was later adopted by Harry Anderson.

She was raised in Topeka, until the family moved to Berryton in 1959. She attended grade school and middle school in Berryton.

Vernon Tharp High

July 19, 1948 – June 20, 2019

CARBONDALE — Vernon Tharp High, Carbondale, died Thursdy, June 20, 2019, at his home. He was 70.

He was born July 19, 1948, at Admire, the son of Charley High and Emily Tharp High. He graduated from Overbrook High School with the class of 1966. During his military service he also attained several degrees.

Buddy Stuart Steinle

Jan. 7, 1935 – June 20, 2019

OSAGE CITY — Buddy Stuart Steinle, Osage City, died Thursday, June 20, 2019, at home. He was 84

He was born Jan. 7, 1935, at Burlingame, the son of Ernest and Anna Steinle. He attended school at Burlingame, graduating in 1953. He was very athletic and participated in football, basketball and track during high school. Following high school he attended Emporia State University graduating with a degree in business education.

Richard F. “Dick” Ryan

Nov. 29, 1951 – June 14, 2019

OVERBROOK — Richard F. “Dick” Ryan, Overbrook, loving father of three children, died Friday, June 14, 2019, from colon cancer. He was 67.

He was born Nov. 29, 1951, at Spalding, Neb., the son of James M. and Madeline McCarthy Ryan Sr. He received his degree in agri-business from Colorado State University in May 1976. He received many honors, including being on the dean’s list during this time.

He married Sheila Vail May 12, 1972, at Omaha, Neb. To this union, three children were born. They divorced in 1993.
