Daryl Leroy Strohm Sr.,

Sept. 24, 1949 – Oct. 15, 2018

TOPEKA — Daryl Leroy Strohm Sr., Scranton, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at a Topeka hospital. He was 69.

He was born Sept. 24, 1949, at Topeka, son of Lester Leroy and Emily Lois George Strohm. He graduated from Dover High School in 1967.

He worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad and later owned and operated Kansas Sewing Machine Company from 1985 until he retired in 2012. He attended Burlingame Federated Church since 1982, was a Boy Scout leader at Scranton, for several years and in his younger years was a avid outdoorsman.

Christopher Kendall

Feb. 9, 1974 – Oct. 4, 2018

KANSAS CITY — Christopher Wayne Kendall, Leavenworth, died Oct. 4, 2018, at KU Medical Center. He was 44.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at Penile Bible Church, 2771 N.E. Trefoil Rd., Waverly.

Mary Elizabeth Succi Tyree

Feb. 15, 1918 – Oct. 7, 2018

DAYTON, Ohio — Mary Elizabeth Succi Tyree died Sunday, Oct. 7 at Dayton, Ohio. She was 100.

She was born Feb. 15, 1918, at Burlingame, the daughter of Gillio and Edith Vandevord Succi. She attended Pleasant Valley School District No. 67 grade school and graduated from Burlingame High School in 1936.

She married Cecil Tyree Aug. 31, 1941, at Topeka. He preceded her in death in 2000.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alfred Succi; and a sister, Lorena Croucher.

Thomas David Hawk

May 4, 1932 – Oct. 4, 2018

CARBODALE — Thomas "Tom" David Hawk went to be with the Lord Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, after an illness. He was 86.

He was born May 4, 1932, at Yale, Okla., the son of Ralph and Dorotha Murphy Hawk. He attend high school at Albuquerque, N.M. He attended Grace and Glory Bible School in Kansas City, Mo., and was ordained a minister of the Gospel in 1951.

Shirley A. Dillon

Feb. 16, 1938 – Oct. 5, 2018

TOPEKA — Shirley A. Dillon, Scranton, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at a Topeka hospital. She was 80.

She was born Feb. 16, 1938, at Brocksburg, Neb., the daughter of Ernest and Florence Hart Gossard.

She married Maynard D. Dillon, July 3, 1954, at Pierre, S.D. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1997.

Troy D. Hill

Oct. 31, 1978 – Oct. 3, 2018

TOPEKA — Troy D. Hill, Topeka, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018. He was 39.

He was born Oct. 31, 1978, at Topeka, the son of Billy J. and Shelia R. Moon Hill. He was a handyman and worked construction.

Margaret Wagoner

Died – Oct. 4, 2018

SCRANTON — Margaret Wagoner, formerly of Doniphan-Brown County area, died Oct. 4, 2018. She was 92.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; parents, John and Elsie Blum Sherman; and two sisters, Lorena Mae Kidwell and Nellie Hartman.

She is survived by three children, Keith Wagoner and wife, Sandra, Phyllis Alcorn and husband, Tom and Steve Wagoner and wife, Jane; a sister, Alice Streib and a brother-in-law, Calvin Hartman.

Celebration of life will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8 at Bellevue United Methodist Church, Leona.

Rosemary Kay Atwood

Aug. 31, 1966 – Sept. 30, 2018

OSAGE CITY — Rosemary Kay Atwood, Osage City, passed away peacefully Sept. 30, 2018, at French House, a group home, in Osage City. She was 52.

She was born Aug. 31, 1966, at Topeka, the daughter of Ralph Edward and Nadine Bisel Atwood. She graduated from Topeka High School. She was cared for by a group home, French House, sponsored by COF Training Services.

Survivors include her mother, Nadine Atwood, Topeka; a brother, Ralph Vernon Atwood, Auburn; a sister, Viola Serrano, and husband, Ralph, Topeka; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Peggy Lou Riggin

Oct. 3, 1929 – Sept. 26, 2018

OVERBROOK — Peggy Lou Riggin died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. She was 88.

She was born Oct. 3, 1929, at Topeka, the daughter of LeeRoy and Fern Prater Denton. She grew up in Burlingame and went attended school there.

She married Dwain Saffle July 4, 1945. They had five children and lived most of their married life in Wichita. They were later divorced. She married Jack Riggin. Their marriage was brief.
